NATO Meets Industry at Upcoming NATO-Industry Forum

October 17, 2023

Joint Centres

On behalf of NATO Secretary General, NATO Allied Command Transformation and the Defence Investment Division of the NATO Headquarters International Military Staff will host the 2023 NATO-Industry Forum in Stockholm, Sweden, October 24 – 25.

The NATO-Industry Forum is the strategic-level event supporting NATO and industry engagement; this year’s theme is ‘Addressing the New Strategic Reality Together’. The Forum was built upon the decisions taken by Heads of State and Government, in particular those related to the Defence Production Action Plan, at the NATO Vilnius Summit in July 2023, and will offer an opportunity to explore NATO’s vision for its future defence capabilities. The Defence Production Action Plan approved at the Summit will accelerate joint procurement, boost production capacity and enhance Allies’ interoperability.

The NATO-Industry Forum will bring together industry executives, senior NATO civilian and military commanders and national officials, as well as key leaders from other institutions.  It will include contributions from Military Representatives, officials from NATO and European institutions, Chief Executive Officers and Senior Executives from the defence and security industry, and other decision makers.

Advancements in technology overall are increasingly driven by the commercial sector rather than the public sector, industry now far exceeds military investments in research and development. For NATO to be successful in its defence and deterrence posture, it must harness both traditional and non-traditional research and development, including technological advancements in the civilian sector.

Through its collaborative relationships with industry and partners, the Alliance is able to improve its strength and efficiency. The NATO-Industry Forum is the gateway event for NATO to shape industry thinking, and for industry to shape NATO’s trajectory.
