Allied Command Transformation Welcomes Kajsa Ollongren, Minister of Defence of the Netherlands

NORFOLK, VIRGINIA – The Minister of Defence of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren, visited Allied Command Transformation on 29th September for meetings and synchronisation talks with the Allied Command Transformation initiatives.

On Friday, 29th September, the Minister of Defence of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren, concluded her trip to the United States with meetings at Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation. Ms. Ollongren’s visit to Allied Command Transformation centred on deepening the relationship between the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands and Allied Command Transformation initiatives.

During her visit to NATO’s home in North America, Ms. Ollongren met with Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation General Chris Badia to underline the Netherland’s support for Alliance transformation initiatives and the ongoing partnership with Allied Command Transformation. Additionally, Ms. Ollongren visited with the numerous Command staff from the Netherlands and discussed their roles in helping the Alliance transform its military instrument of power.

Speaking on the importance of the collaboration between Allied Command Transformation and the Netherland’s Ministry of Defence, Ms. Ollongren emphasized “Military staff from the Alliance are preparing NATO for the future of warfighting at Allied Command Transformation. The changing security situation requires us to step up defence spending, innovate and reshape our Armed Forces.”

Kajsa Ollongren was appointed as Minister of Defence in January 2022 after a five-year tenure as Minister of the Interior. She has overseen a significant expansion in the Netherland’s defence budget in an effort to work toward a more effective, cohesive and self-reliant European defence posture. Allied Command Transformation welcomes these initiatives of our Allied nations to improve overall defence and deterrence initiatives in Europe.
