BY STRATEGIC ISSUES & ENGAGEMENT BRANCH, STRATEGIC PLANS & POLICY
Allied Command Transformation continues a campaign of strategic engagements in support of NATO’s priorities and warfare development. Over the next three months, the focus will be on resilience as we co-organise a Layered Resilience Seminar with the NATO Information and Communication Agency in Romania, and award winners of the resilience related Innovation Challenge – Data Management in the Context of Reconstruction Efforts. The winners will be announced in October at the most significant industry engagement this year – NATO Edge. This event will be the first major touch point of NATO with industry post the Madrid summit, organised by NCIA. It will feature discussions on digital transformation, public-private partnerships enhancing innovation, and bringing agility in defence acquisitions. ACT will use this event to actively showcase how we drive military transformation of the Alliance and further build relationships with relevant industry leaders.
During the fall, we are excited to host visits by Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Ambassador Bettina Cadenbach, and Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Ambassador Baiba Braže. Moreover, Assistant Secretary General for Defence Plans and Policy, Mr. Angus Lapsley, as well as Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Mr. Thomus Goffus will also visit HQ SACT during the annual Defence Counsellors’ visit to the United States of America. Additionally, Secretary General Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security, Mrs. Irene Fellin will be visiting the Command during the Gender Advisers’ Conference on October 24th.
On 6-8 December, we will again welcome national and NATO military leaders for our annual Alliance Warfare Development Conference. This year’s theme is “Better Today, Stronger Tomorrow”, and we intend to inform warfare development leaders about the global security and strategic trends emerging from the War in Ukraine, explore ongoing work on achieving Cognitive Superiority, and exchange views on persistent interoperability challenges. We also intend to provide an opportunity for a practical and immersive experience fusing ACT’s strategic thinking with emerging technology.
