Norfolk, VA – Combined Joint Operations from the Sea Centre of Excellence will be hosting its 2023 Maritime Security Regimes Roundtable on November 1st and 2nd in downtown Norfolk, VA. Since 2015, the aim of the annual Maritime Security Regimes Roundtable has been to gain a better understanding of the current global maritime security environment, examine current challenges, and determine what best practices can be employed across regimes to better achieve our collective security goals. Participants include Maritime Security specialists from NATO, NATO global partners, homeland security and the maritime industry, allowing for a broad spectrum of expertise and insight. Building on the collaborative work of previous years, the theme for 2023’s conference is “Improving Maritime Security through Cooperative Strategies and Shared Engagement in the Military and Civilian Spheres.”
“The Maritime Security Regimes Roundtable provides an opportunity for the community of maritime security stakeholders to exchange experiences, knowledge, and concerns and we look forward to hosting an engaging and valuable forum.” – Cdre Phil Nash, the Centre’s Deputy Director.
The Combined Joint Operations from the Sea Centre of Excellence was established in May 2006. Representing 13 nations, CJOS is the only Centre of Excellence in the United States, and one of 29 NATO accredited Centres worldwide, representing a collective wealth of international experience, expertise, and best practices.
Independent of the NATO Command structure, and situated alongside Allied Command Transformation, U.S. Second Fleet and Joint Force Command Norfolk, the Combined Joint Operations from the Sea Centre of Excellence is a key enabler in the drive for improved interoperability, enhanced multi-domain integration, a better understanding of the maritime operating context, and the development of innovative capabilities and concepts. The Combined Joint Operations from the Sea Centre of Excellence draws on the knowledge and capabilities of sponsoring nations and staff to promote “best practices” within the Alliance.
