DETAILS OF PROJECT:
A 4 Square/Multi Domain Escalation Dynamics (MDED) Intern is required to support SACT’s ‘Deterrence team’ within SPP. The intern can expect to work alongside existing 4SQ/MDED team members in support of NATO’s deterrence theory development, understanding and implementation, including as detailed below:
- Essential Core Duties:
- Supports the development of deterrence theory and NATO’s understanding of the subject.
- Supports coordination with other ACT teams to ensure SPPs provides coherent deterrence advice to NATO.
- Helps contribute to cross-functional projects and programs with summaries, research papers, and other written products or briefings.
- Helps to provide direct support to the 2* DCOS SPP for the day-to-day interaction with the NATO HQ and other stakeholders in the strategy and policy community.
- Can support in preparation of briefs, presentations, and point papers for HQ SACT on deterrence theory and practical implementation of policy advice.
- Supports to coordinate assigned Branch activities to meet the requirements of the Strategic Management Plan and ACT mission as assigned.
- Additional Duties as Required:
- Report / document editing; note-taking and report writing for 4SQ/MDED events.
- Assist in knowledge management and the organization of information repositories, such as website development and maintenance, as required.
- Provide research and data collection, to include quantitative and qualitative assessments.
EXPECTED DELIVERABLE(S):
- Reports, point papers, PowerPoint presentations, and management products, as directed.
- Additional deliverables will be tailored based on the experience and skills of the selected intern.
TYPE OF BACKGROUND/EDUCATION PREFERRED:
- Essential:
- Current or recently graduated Post Graduate student in mathematics, business, management, communication, social science, psychology, international relations, government, defence studies, history or similar disciplines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Language proficiency: English, fluent (speaking and written).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- An interest in international policy and military affairs.
- Desirable:
- Language proficiency: French, basic (speaking and written)
- Experience or study in data analytics, process improvement, risk management, project management, change management
