DETAILS OF PROJECT:
The Joint Effects Section mission is to develop and implement integrated capabilities to achieve Joint and Multi Domain Effects across all operational domains (Land, Air, Maritime, Space and Cyber). The Joint Effects Section’s broader purpose is to synchronize effects among and across multiple functions, to include Targeting and Fires; Chemical, Bacteriological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN); Strategic Communications (STRATCOM), ElectroMagnetic Operations (EMO) and Electromagnetic Warfare (EW); Counter-threat and Counter-Improvised Explosive Device, Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), as well as through cooperation with other branches of capability development.
An intern can expect to work alongside existing Section members in support of the development of the Joint Effects capabilities, including as detailed below.
- Essential Core Duties:
- Conduct research and analysis to support Joint Effects Section projects and programmes; in particular in, but not limited to, the following work strands:
- Medium Term Military Plan (MTMP) and the Medium Term Resource Plan (MTRP);
- Support to the Department Head (DH) role for JE-related disciplines within global programming, to include management of Education and Training lines of effort;
- Support to respective capability development programme management for the core JE functions (listed above);
- Assist in the organization of JE-related workshops, seminars, conferences, or other events ;
- Subject area research (e.g. short analysis, assessments, information or background papers on JE-related issues and documents).
- Additional Duties as Required:
- Report / document editing; note-taking and report writing for JE-related events
- Assist in knowledge management and the organization of information repositories, such as website development and maintenance, as required.
EXPECTED DELIVERABLE(S):
- Reports, point papers, PowerPoint presentations, and management products, as directed.
- Additional deliverables will be tailored based on the experience and skills of the selected intern.
TYPE OF BACKGROUND/EDUCATION PREFERRED:
- Essential:
- Current or recently graduated Post Graduate student in mathematics, business, management, communication, social science, psychology, international relations, defence studies or similar disciplines
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Language proficiency: English, fluent (speaking and written)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An interest in military affairs
- Desirable:
- Language proficiency: French, basic (speaking and written)
- Experience or study in data analytics, process improvement, risk management, project management, change management
