110701sactbulgaria350Upon the invitation of General Simeon Simeonov, Bulgarian Chief of Defence, NATO Supreme Allied Commander, French Air Force General Stephane Abrial visited the Republic of Bulgaria from 28-30 June.

During this visit, Abrial met with Bulgarian Prime Minister, His Excellency Mr. Boyko Borissov, and took part in several high level meetings with Mr. Dobroslav Dimitrov, Chairman of Foreign Policy & Defence Committee and Mr. Anyu Angelov, Minister of Defence.

Abrial also had detailed discussions and productive talks with Simeon Simeonov and his staff on the transformation of the Bulgarian Armed Forces.

General Abrial saluted Bulgaria for its commitment and contributions in NATO operations, especially in Afghanistan and Operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR in Libya. He also underlined the determination shown by Bulgaria to conduct defence reform to achieve military transformation and reminded them that transformation is at the heart of the on-going NATO reform.

To conclude his visit General Abrial participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the Unknown Soldier Memorial to salute the sacrifice of all that lost their live to defend freedom and peace.
