Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (DSACT), Polish General Mieczysław Bieniek recently visited two NATO Centres – the Joint Analysis Lessons Learned Centre (JALLC) in Monsanto, Portugal and the NATO Undersea Research Centre (NURC) in La Spezia, Italy.

At the JALLC Bieniek was briefed on Lessons Learned from current operations and exercises, and a wide spectrum of initiatives involving both NATO Member and Partnership for Peace nations.

At the NURC General Bieniek was greeted by Director Dr. Dirk Tielbuerger and received briefings and demonstrations on ‘Environmental Knowledge and Operational Effectiveness’, as well as on ‘Maritime Security’.

“I was impressed with what I saw at the facilities, especially the Autonomous Underwater Vehicles and the jobs that all the personnel do” Bieniek said. The general met with key personnel and discussed current and future challenges of the NURC.
