Effective relationships between Strategic Commands and Education and Individual Training (E&IT) Institutions are necessary in order to ensure that new ideas, procedures, tactics and lessons learned are injected into NATO's education structure.

nso logoNATO School Oberammergau (NSO) The NATO School Oberammergau (NSO) located in southern Germany is NATO's key training facility at the operational to strategic levels, conducting multinational military education and individual training in support of current and developing NATO operations, strategy, policy, doctrine and procedures. The School began with two courses in 1953 and now offers over 100 different courses to Alliance members, partner nations and international organizations.

Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ SACT) has the overall responsibility for the management of NATO E&T and its delivery through the NATO E&T Facilities, supported by COEs', PTECs' and National Training Institutions' activities. Effective relationships between Strategic Commands and Education and Individual Training (E&IT) Institutions are necessary in order to ensure that new ideas, procedures, tactics and lessons learned are injected into NATO's education structure. This will facilitate the further transformation of capabilities or fill gaps in current requirements. While executing Co-Chairmanship, HQ SACT will observe the following division of responsibilities:

  1. Organize the PTEC CC:
    1. Procure the meeting facility, including all administrative arrangements.
    2. Promulgate read ahead packages.
       
  2. Promote the PTEC Community through:
    1. PTEC Webpage.
    2. Education and Training Opportunities Catalogue (ETOC).
    3. Maintaining the Annual Academic Calendar.
    4. Development and update of the Trifold.
       
  3. Supporting the PTEC Community through:
    1. Providing tools, ideas and best practices to E&T institutions.
    2. Providing updated information, Direction and Guidance on the NATO E&T Policy and procedures.
    3. Support PTECs in their intention to engage actively in the new E&T landscape.
    4. Support accreditation of PTEC courses/modules in accordance with current NATO E&T Policy.
    5. Ensure incorporation and managing of the NATO accredited PTEC courses/modules into e-PRIME (Partnership Real-Time Information Management and Exchange System) with the appropriate ACT reference number.
    6. Advertising PTEC courses in ETOC.
    7. Providing Advanced Distributive Learning (ADL) opportunities to PTECs for their use.
    8. Providing relevant information, advice and offering support and guidance to the Centres to ensure that E&T is in compliance with NATO E&T Policy.

NATO School Oberammergau (NSO)

The NATO School, with support from relevant NATO bodies, will support and help further develop, as needed, a mechanism for cooperation, coordination, information exchange and sharing of lessons learned among all Partnership Training and Education Centres (PTEC), including the co-chairing of the PTEC Commandants Conference and focused Working Groups. The NATO School also supports the promotion of each Centre and the community by organizing the annual PTEC Marketplace. The organization of the PTEC WGs and the management of the Train the Trainer (TtT) and the Instructor Exchange Program (IEP) are the responsibility of the NATO School as well.
