NATO PA Training
NATO PA Training
Since November 2010, two separate one-week PA courses are offered at the NATO School in Oberammergau, each course available three times a year. These courses, called NATO Public Affairs Policy Indoctrination Course and NATO Public Affairs in Operations Course replaced the former two-week NATO Public Affairs Course.
NATO Public Affairs Policy Indoctrination Course

Aim: "to provide Officers, senior NCOs and civilians with a working knowledge of all aspects of NATO’s Public Affairs Policy, responsibilities and procedures"

Prerequisite Training: None
NATO Public Affairs in Operations Course

Aim: "to provide Officers, senior NCOs and civilians with a working knowledge of NATO’s Public Affair policy, responsibilities and procedures during NATO Operations"

Prerequisite Training: Must have attended the NATO Public Affairs Policy Indoctrination Course before (or the former two-week NATO PA Course prior to 2010) and must have attended national level Public Affairs Training before.

The NATO PA in Operations Course will be by invitation only from the NATO School. Applying students must be prepared to demonstrate in writing they have obtained the prerequisite training.

Basic PA Training
While basic PA training is a national responsibility, ACT recognizes that not all nations can currently provide this capacity adequately, particularly in English. As such, ACT has observed a number of basic-level PA courses which are recommended.

In addition to the NATO School PA courses, advanced PA training may be offered at the following national schools:
The command for Management, Information and Communication Training in the Swiss Armed Forces (MICA), United Kingdom’s Defence Media Operations Centre (DMOC), United States’ Defense Information School (DINFOS).
