DSACT visits Slovakia
Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, Polish Army General Mieczysław Bieniek recently visited the Slovak Republic. During his visit he met Slovak senior military and civilian leadership officials.
Bieniek was invited by the Slovak Chief of Defense General L’ubomir Bulik to discuss current and future cooperation with Allied Command Transformation, and Bulik recommended Slovakian support to the Multinational and Innovative Solutions (M&IS) initiative as well as ongoing involvement in ACT’s Task Force on M&IS.
“I believe that exchanges in these regards will be of mutual benefit for both Slovak Republic and ACT,” said Bieniek.
Bieniek and Bulik also discussed the transformation of the Slovak Armed Forces and the potential areas of cooperation between Slovak General Staff and ACT. They concluded the day by signing a memorandum of collaboration between the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic and ACT.
“Slovakia fully supports capability development through multinational approaches and our interest in this approach is in having an active participation in areas such as Logistics, Training, Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN), Medical,Multinational Procurement and Upgrade of equipment,” stated Bulik.
General Bieniek went on to discuss the status of transformation of the country’s Armed Forces and Strategic Defense Review with the Slovak MOD State Secretary Mr. Róbert Ondrejcsák. Bieniek also visited the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Center of Excellence (EOD COE) where he was welcomed by the Trenčin Garrison Commander, Major General Peter Vojtek, and the Director EOD COE, Colonel Joroslav Bielený. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Center of Excellence was officially endorsed by the North Atlantic Council (NAC) in May 2011.
