BRANCH/SECTION: Multinational Solutions (Smart Defence) Core Team
DETAILS OF PROJECT:
On 19 Sep 2016 an agreement was signed by Special Envoys for Smart Defence (SD) that refocused efforts after the Warsaw Summit to adopt a broader synchronized approach to multinational programmes and capability development. This effort will ensure coherence, eliminate duplication and establish best practices across all multinational programmes and initiatives.
The post-holder will contribute to the ACT Multinational Solutions activities including coordination of Smart Defence, Framework Nations Concept and other Multinational efforts. Specific Duties will include:
- Analysis and research support of all related multinational capability development initiatives throughout NATO and non-NATO nations and including international and regional entities.
- Assist in the management and conduct of on-going studies related to development of SD projects and activities.
- Support development of Multinational Solutions Synchronisation Workshop.
The post-holder is expected to fully participate in the creation of innovative solutions to address Alliance capability shortfalls. Specific deliverables will depend on the type of proposals and initiatives' being implemented at the time the position is filled.
TYPE OF BACKGROUND/EDUCATION PREFERRED:
Current or recent Postgraduate student in political science, international relations, public policy or humanities. English proficiency and strong interpersonal skills are essential. A strong interest in military affairs and previous work experience in defence and security would be highly desirable.
