JOB DESCRIPTION FOR POSSIBLE INTERNSHIP 2019

DIVISION: Command and Control, Deployability and Sustainability Division

BRANCH/SECTION: Operational Command & Control Branch

DETAILS OF PROJECT:The Operational Command & Control (OC2) Branch is using ACT-hosted websites based on Semantic MediaWiki software. The intern must have a computer science and programming background. The activities and tasks during the internship will include assisting in the development of new concepts on the websites and of reports, data exports and other output with special attention to large data visualization and innovative rendering techniques. The tasking will also include assisting in the analysis of the consistency of data on the wikis and performing edits and rewrites in order to improve consistency and coherency of data.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLE(S):

Under the tutelage of the sponsor the intern will assist in the following:

The delivery of new concepts and designs on existing Semantic MediaWiki websites.
The creation of modern reporting features for exported data.
The improvement of visualization of large amounts of data online.

TYPE OF BACKGROUND/EDUCATION PREFERRED:

Current or recent Post Graduate student in computer science, software development, gamification and/or data analysis. Programming knowledge of Python and preferably, MediaWiki. Experience in using github, ldap, linux.
