ACT Hosts Three-Day JADL Forum at VMASC
Allied Command Transformation (ACT) is hosting the 5th annual Joint Advanced Distributed Learning (JADL) Forum at the Virginia Modelling and Simulation Centre (VMASC) in Suffolk August 31 to September 2.
As the lead for NATO e-learning, ACT developed the capability, JADL, to deliver online learning to NATO and its Partners. Using the academic and industry standard ADL and utilising the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM), courses developed by NATO, NATO Nations or Partner Nations are fully interoperable with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for any compliant Nation systems. LMS is a service and software program providing students access to online courses, performs student tracking and manages testing, surveys and other relevant information.
The forum brings together ADL developers from NATO education and training facilities as well as Nations who develop ADL. This year it welcomes new nations who are interested in developing ADL including Belarus, Armenia, Ukraine, Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina. These nations, along with NATO Nations and NATO institutions, will work together to ensure the future and growth of e-learning.
As the forum focuses on developing e-Learning for NATO, many nations have shown interest in not only using NATO courses, but also supplying courses for NATO to use.
The forum lays out the new concept plan for NATO’s development, which is in line with the vision of ACT’s Joint Force Trainer by ensuring all courses are NATO approved, certified and have an ongoing lifecycle and configuration management plan.
International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) pre-deployment training support is also a key topic at this week’s forum as Joint Force Centre (JFTC) Brunssum outlines present support and plans for the future.
NATO ADL is available to all NATO Nations and Partners and can be accessed at https://jadl.act.nato.int
