Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, General Denis Mercier, toured three European countries in order to improve the Alliance’s military posture, represent the Command in France and engage NATO’s Maritime Command in the United Kingdom.
General Mercier first met with civilian and military authorities in France, including the new Chief of Defense General (Army) Francois Lecointre. He was also invited by Pierre Gattaz, Chairman of the Mouvement des Entreprises de France, an association of French business leaders, to speak during a round table called “Wars and Peace” in which he shared his views on the links between the economics and the military. In the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, General Mercier joined “Ambassadors Week” where he provided his assessment of the evolution of the military threats and the role of international organizations to counter these threats.
General Mercier continued his trip with a visit to NATO’s Maritime Command in Northwood, United Kingdom where he discussed challenges in the maritime domain.
To finish his trip, General Mercier, along with General Scaparrotti, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, pursued common work to improve the Alliance’s military posture.
