Howarth on the UK Commitment to NATO ACT

120626howarth01-350To show the United Kingdom's continued support for Allied Command Transformation's (ACT) role in NATO Defence Planning, Smart Defence, and Allied Command Transformation mission, Mr. Gerald Howarth, the British Minister for International Security Strategy paid a visit to NATO ACT on Monday, 25 June to provide feedback on the UK's positive impression of the outcome for the 2012 Chicago Summit.

While visiting NATO ACT, Howarth had the opportunity to meet with General Stéphane Abrial, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation to discuss areas where the UK could offer experience in the mission of ACT and the role the headquarters plays in NATO Defence Planning and Smart Defence.

120626howarth02-250He also had the opportunity during a round table discussion to talk about Smart Defense with senior ranking officers and civilians within the ACT Staff.

During his discussion, Howarth stated, "Although Chicago did not provide all the answers we need, it did ask the right questions." This highlights NATO's continued forward momentum in finding solutions to today's and tomorrow's operations.
